The channel was named after his initials and HD for high definition. As of April 2014, the channel has over 1.1 million subscribers and over 92 million total video views. In August 2013, Vic Gundotra, then Senior Vice President, Social for Google, called Brownlee "the best technology reviewer on the planet right now."
