A synastry chart is the relationship chart between two individuals. To find out if you have North Node in aspect to your partner’s North Node, use our north node synastry calculator and create your synastry chart.

What is the North Node within the Synastry chart?

The North Node is one of two “Nodes of the Moon” that are marked on a personal natal chart. The Nodes of the Moon, the North Node and the South Node are not planetary bodies, but rather points formed by the Moon’s orbit around the Earth, intersecting with the Earth’s path around the Sun.

The North and South Node stay in a sign for 1.5 years. The North Node takes 18 years to go through the full zodiac before the cycle repeats.

The North Node is the Ascending Node (the point closest to the North pole) and is thought to represent the traits a soul is moving toward, from a general perspective. The South Node is thought to be the traits a soul is leaving behind, that represents mastery in previous lives. The South Node represents our comfort zones and, in turn, where an individual is now excessively exhibiting behavior. Growing toward more traits as depicted by the North Node helps the individual find balance.

There is a deep sense of growth when describing the North Nodes - which ties in well to the perspective of evolutionary astrology: that we are always growing and expanding and changing. The Nodes of the Moon describe the type of growth and soul evolution we experience.

For this reason, a relationship that has an aspect between the North Node for two individuals is thought to be an especially meaningful connection, that activates one’s own spirituality.

What does North Node conjunction North Node mean in a Synastry Chart?

When your North Node lies in the same sign as your partner’s, it feels as if your destinies are aligned. The larger picture worldview you hold feels shared. There are subtle patterns and ways of looking at things that you absolutely relate to, even if having grown up in very different environments.

How you want to grow together spiritually feels shared. Often this union starts at a significant turning point in each individual’s personal life. And, the bond can signify being part of a new spiritual process, church, etc mutually in a supportive manner.

What does South Node conjunction South Node mean in a Synastry Chart?

Interestingly, a North Node conjunction North Node indicates that the opposite point, the South Node is also conjunct.

Typically your South Node point (directly opposite from the North Node) indicates your comfort zone. Any conjunction to this point indicates patterns you are habituated to, and often resistant to change.

A conjunction here means there are behaviors that you can both easily settle into and become comfortable with that don’t actually further your growth but feel quite stuck in the past. This may be a tendency that is hard to pull away from, as the patterns feel more familiar and that is the primary downside of this aspect.

When you do move forward spiritually, it feels as if you’re moving in a shared direction, able to learn something from one another, and help each other in a relatable way. Together you propel yourselves into the postivity and joy embodied by the North Node sign.

What does North Node opposition North Node mean in a Synastry Chart?

As your North and South Nodes oppose in this relationship, you feel immensely inspired by one another. The other person is familar and comfortable with the traits you aspire toward. At the same time, being around each other is not your comfort zone. Your tendencies vary immensely.

Those born 9 years apart are North Node opposites and there is a special allure to them, as they model the qualities we want and need to develop. In fact, the same is true for Sun and North Node aspects within the synastry chart - as those with their Sun in our North Node sign show us where we want to be stretched and how we want to grow.

What does a North Node trine North Node mean in a Synastry Chart?

You are both yearning for spiritual growth and your bond can feel supportive for one another in this way. You have been attracted to each other’s similar ideologies and spiritual ideas.

Simply being around one another feels fulfilling to your spirit. Old patterns had you prioritizing material wealth or concrete goals over your whole well-being and you’ve identified a yearning for something new. And within this connection you feel like the whole of you is being seen and valued.

The connection feels spiritual. You seek to help each other get in touch with their own options for growth rather than trying to change their behavior. You seek to walk the path toward more awareness and more conscientiousness together. With the trine, your paths vary but complement each other very well.

With any North Node to North Node aspect in synastry you both have the opportunity to encourage each other toward deeper emotional fulfillment. This can manifest as going to the same church together, engaging in calming activities together, or deeper and more therapeutic conversations. On the other hand, there can be a tendency to want to push new ideologies or methodologies on one another and be somewhat zealous about these approaches. Coming back to the core of what you’re both reaching for, discussing how you want to live and really feel will quickly bring you back on track.
