Neptune, named after the Roman God of the Sea (also the Greek God Poseidon) - vast, unexplored & unfathomable. The ocean takes on many properties - is it stormy & tumultuous? Or a tropical, colorful & crystal clear reef? Symbolically it represents our imagination - exploring and reaching out of unlimited potential, and creating a new thought, a new idea, a new direction.
When the beginnings of new thought forms, things are often vague, unclear, undefined. Naturally, as a result, Pisces (the sign ruled by Neptune) sits opposite the defined, clear-sighted Virgo. Neptune is at home in Pisces, and will be in the sign from 2011 to 2026.
But Neptune beckons us to use our imagination - and explore the ideas that are not yet formed, not clear, not yet known - but that excite us and incite our interest. First, they start as a feeling - a vibration that we want to match - a feeling has not yet grown into specifics. Then there is a need to believe - to believe the feeling can grow into a reality - to hold sight of the original idea and believe it into life.Undulating
There is something so beautiful about the undulating ocean. It is slippery, smooth, and easy about things. Not firm, not strict. Just easy about things. Moving with the flow.
Many times when we are creating from our imagination, we have to be easy about things - not too fussy about the specifics. We have to just be consistent, revisiting the 'vibration' of the heart of the subject.
What is a vibration? It is feeling at its core.
Perhaps your dream is to become a basketball player - what is the feeling that you feel as you watch someone who is in mastery at this sport? There is ease as one glides through a crowd, and rolls a ball off their fingertips and sinks their shot into the hoop. The act feels like an expression of mastery.
This is the vibration you need to tap into - someone you don't know how your dreams will unfold into realities but you just must start in the fog, with the general feelings and ideas.
Neptune in Pisces reminds me quite a bit of a shoe gaze band - I immediately think of Slowdive. It is fitting also that Neptune is said to rule music, that abstract, and non physical nature of it. It takes up no space or place, and yet uplifts and elevates so many.
How long does Neptune stay in a sign?
Neptune stays in each sign for 14 years! What makes Neptune's movement look particularly slow is that it appears to "retrograde" in the sky, which basically means to move backwards through the signs through periods. This year, 2016, Neptune is in retrograde from June to November.Neptune's Ephemeris for 2016
January 1, 2016 - Neptune starts at 7° Pisces
June 13, 2016 - Neptune starts retrograde at 12° Pisces
November 19, 2016 - Neptune at 9° Pisces stops retrograde
